It’s hard to believe that another year has come and gone, but as we look back on 2022, it’s clear that DD Group has had a busy and successful year. From hosting fundraisers and sponsoring events, to expanding our operations across Queensland and into Northern Territory, and partnering with leading organisations, we’ve been able to make a real difference in the lives of our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate.
Supply Nation Registered
DD Group became a Supply Nation registered business, a non-profit organization that supports the growth of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander business sectors. We are incredibly proud and excited to have received this certification and to have become registered with Supply Nation, which aligns with the expectations of both our customers and team. We believe in meaningful partnerships and working together to improve health and safety standards in the workplace.
As a Supply Nation registered business, we prioritise investing in people and our community, as well as protecting the environment. We aim to preserve the land for future generations, and we are grateful to be a part of the Supply Nation community. We are committed to building strong relationships and making a positive impact in the communities we serve. We look forward to continuing to work with Supply Nation to make a difference through 2023.
RizeUp Fundraisers
DD Group worked closely with RizeUp to host two fundraiser events in support of victims and survivors of domestic and family violence, raising over $70,000 for RizeUp.
The first event was the inaugural Mount Isa Fundraiser Dinner, held on May 28th at the Overlander Hotel. This event was a huge success, raising more than $30,000 for RizeUp.
The second event was the annual Brisbane Fundraiser Lunch, held on October 28th at Cloudland’s Rose Room. This event also saw great success, raising more than $40,000 for RizeUp.
We are proud to have been able to support such a worthwhile cause and make a difference in the lives of those affected by domestic and family violence. Be sure to keep coming back to our blog, social media profiles, and email newsletter for information on our 2023 RizeUp events to learn how you can help.
Alice Springs – Acquisition and Expansion
In July of 2022, DD Group welcomed Workwear Alice Springs into the fold as part of an acquisition. We are committed to bolstering the community and keeping the members of that community safe.
DD Group has big plans for its operations in the Alice Springs region and the communities that call it home. We believe in building meaningful partnerships and working together to improve health and safety standards in the workplace.
We are excited to have the opportunity to expand our presence in the Alice Springs region and look forward to continuing to serve the community in the coming years.
Mount Isa Expansion
This year, DD Group made several exciting moves in the Mount Isa region. First, we launched a retail store location in Mount Isa, bringing our products and services even closer to the community.
In addition to this, we welcomed Shane and Renee Vassallo as the new faces of operations in the region. With their experience and expertise, we are confident that they will help us to continue providing top-notch service to our customers in Mount Isa as well as support existing staff.
Finally, we made the move to a bigger and better retail showroom, providing our customers with even more space to browse and purchase the products they need.
Western Wear
With DD Group’s expansion and growth throughout the Mount Isa and Alice Springs regions, and our growing involvement in the Mount Isa rodeo, it only made sense for us to introduce a western wear product line in 2022.
We now offer western wear through some of your favourite brands, including Akubra, Ringers Western, Wrangler, Pure Western, Thomas Cook, and the Pilbara collection by Ritemate. Whether you need stylish jeans and shirts or workwear that’s built to last, we have something for everyone.
Community Support
DD Group is dedicated to supporting the communities in which it operates, and has demonstrated this commitment through a variety of initiatives and events throughout the year.
Morf Charity Raceday
On October 1st, DD Group had the pleasure of sponsoring the Annual Charity Raceday at Eagle Farm Racecourse in support of MORF, a charity that works to assist athletes in their transition to life after sport.
In particular, funds were raised for Leah Kilner, who during a race in July of this year, was thrown from her horse and trampled by oncoming horses. DD Group believes in the importance of getting home safe from work, regardless of your career or industry, and we were proud to support MORF in their efforts to help athletes transition to life after sport.
It was a fantastic event and we were honoured to be able to make a difference in the lives of athletes and their families.
Mount Isa International Men’s Day
DD Group sponsored the Mount Isa International Men’s Day Awards Dinner on November 12, 2022. The event was held at the Buchanan Park Events Complex and featured an awards dinner, demolition derby, and lawn mower races. Local male role models were celebrated and awarded for their hard work and contributions to the communities of Camooweal, Mount Isa, Cloncurry, and surrounding areas.
The awards given out at the dinner included the 2022 Man of Achievement, 2022 Local Hero, and 2022 Youth Leader. The event was also an opportunity for men to come together, share their stories, and raise awareness for men’s health in the lead up to International Men’s Day on November 19.
DD Group is committed to the wellbeing of the communities it serves, and was proud to support the Mount Isa International Men’s Day Awards Dinner as a way of promoting health and safety in the region.
Mount Isa Mines Rodeo
This year, DD Group was a major sponsor of the 2022 Mount Isa mines rodeo, which ran from Aug 11-14. This event, which is the southern hemisphere’s largest rodeo, injects $10 million into the local economy each year and is a major source of pride for the community.
Tanya and John Macnamara, the Director and CEO of DD Group, both hail from the Mount Isa region, so it was a natural fit for us to support the rodeo and give back to the community. They were also joined by Scotty Prince, DD Group’s brand ambassador, also from Mount Isa.
We were excited to have the opportunity to partner with the Mount Isa mines rodeo and are thrilled by the chance to support the Mount Isa community once again. It was a great event and we look forward to continuing to support the rodeo in the future.
TIACS – Alliance Partner (Trade Mutt)
In 2022, DD Group formed a partnership with This Is A Conversation Starter (TIACS), a nonprofit organization funded by Trade Mutt that offers free and confidential mental health support to Australian truckers, tradies, blue collar workers, and all those who care about them.
We believe that mental health is just as important as physical health, and we are proud to support TIACS in their mission to provide support and resources to those who may be struggling. Through our partnership, we hope to help raise awareness and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health in the workplace.
Partnerships
DD Group has established partnerships with leading organizations in order to further its mission of improving health and safety standards in the workplace. These partnerships have allowed DD Group to expand its reach and expertise, and have enabled the company to better serve its customers and communities.
Partnership with IWS
In 2022, DD Group became a member of Independent Workwear Specialists (IWS), a buying group created for independent sellers of PPE, corporate wear, industrial workwear, and other similar products.
This membership has secured lower buying prices and better deals across 35 suppliers, allowing us to offer our customers more for less. We are always looking for ways to provide value to our customers, and this partnership is a great way for us to do so.
Partnership with Toyota Fleet Management
Another exciting development for DD Group in 2022 was our partnership with Toyota Fleet Management. Through this partnership, our hire fleet has increased from 50 vehicles to nearly 200, and we are continuing to grow.
Our entire fleet is brand new, something that can’t be boasted by any of our competitors, and even if one did arise, they’d be hard pressed to compete with the top-of-the-line fit out and high-tech equipment we offer across the board.
We are thrilled to be able to offer our customers an even larger selection of vehicles to choose from, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with Toyota Fleet Management in the future.
Recertification of ISO Accreditations
In 2022, DD Group met and exceeded the requirements for our ISO certifications in quality, safety, and the environment. As a result, we were able to recertify and continue our efforts to keeping Australians safe and preserving our nation’s beauty through quality solutions.
We are proud to have maintained these important certifications, and we will continue to work hard to meet and exceed the standards set forth by ISO.
New Hybrid Fleet
In line with our commitment to quality and the environment, we also introduced a hybrid staff fleet in 2022. This fleet, which consists of vehicles with both traditional fuel engines and electric motors, helps us to reduce our carbon emissions and support environmentally sustainable practices.
We are proud to be able to do our part in helping to create a brighter, safer future for all Australians. Afterall, People Matter To Us.
